Chiropractic is the art and science of assisting the body in its attempt to maintain balance and homeostasis. Our bodies are controlled by the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and associated nerves distributed throughout the body. The nervous system controls the communication that takes place throughout our bodies.
Normally, when we touch something hot, the nerve cells in our fingertips will relay the information up the nerve, into the spinal cord and then to the brain where the sensation of "hot" will be perceived. However, if this information becomes scrambled, accelerated or delayed, the brain will start to improperly receive information and will then start to make improper decisions. If the nervous system starts to miscommunicate with the rest of the body, a Chiropractic adjustment is needed to resolve the miscommunication and return the body back to normal function.
One way in which Chiropractors restore normal body function is through the removal of subluxations. A subluxation is when two or more vertebrae (bones of the spine) have misaligned, and in doing so, have affected the nervous system's ability to communicate properly. The junction at the spinal cord where the nerve enters is where subluxations most commonly occur.
By removing subluxations, a person's body will be able to self-regulate itself, helping an individual eliminate the need for prescription drugs as well as increase a person's overall health and well being. After routine Chiropractic adjustments, children have been known to no longer suffer from ear infections while adults commonly notice that they no longer experience digestive problems, headaches, allergies and the list goes on and on!
